Evelyn M. Downey, 87, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 13, 2016. A Funeral Mass will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A private burial at St. Mary's Cemetery will follow the Funeral Mass.
Evelyn was born May 10, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Seymour and Eva (Curtis) Faber. She was a 1946 graduate of McKenzie High School, Detroit. Evelyn would continue her education attaining a 2-year degree from the University of Chicago.
Evelyn worked as a Real Estate Research and Market Analyst employed with Arthur J. Frahm and Associates, Real Estate Counselors in Des Moines, Iowa. Evelyn attended mass at both the former St. Mary's and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches. She was a member of the League of Women's Voters in Pella, Iowa, where she served as President and Treasurer. She was also on the Chicago Real Estate Board and retired as a member of the Iowa Board of Nursing.
In her spare time, she loved knitting and socializing with family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by one niece - Kathleen (Alex) Kochick of West Chicago, IL; two nephews Daniel (Gail) Faber of Wheaton, IL and Dennis Faber of Clinton, IA; with six great nephews, two great nieces, two great great nieces and one great great nephew, with other family members and friends.
Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents and one brother Elmer Leo Faber.
