Evelyn Jeanne Davis, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at University of Iowa Hospitals on December 26th, 2012. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29th, at Lemke Funeral Homes- South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn cemetery). A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Fulton Township cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born July 11th, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Lea) Brodersen. She was a 1946 graduate of Clinton High School. Evelyn was united in marriage to Parker Davis on June 20th, 1946 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Evelyn worked at Sweetheart Bakery retiring in 1990 after 14 years; she was also a homemaker caring for her six children.
Evelyn enjoyed reading and loved watching or listening to her favorite sports teams (especially the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes), she also enjoyed watching golf. Above all she loved her children, her grand children and great grand children. She will be greatly missed.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters - Margaret (George) Surprenant of Camanche, IA., Debra (Arthur) Smith of Des Moines, IA., four sons - Parker (Penny) Davis of Circleville, OH., Niles (Patty) Davis of Clinton, IA., Bruce (Teresa) Davis of Sparta, WI., Charles (Carrie) Davis of Clinton, IA.; 15 grand children and 36 great grand children.
She was preceded in death her parents, her husband (who passed in 1968), three sisters and one brother.
Memorials can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
