Obituary for Evelyn Mae Bonsall
Evelyn Mae Bonsall, 93, of Teeds Grove, passed away at MercyOne Medical Center on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with services held at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born October 24, 1926 in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie (Woodiwiss) Anderson. Evelyn was united in marriage to Donald C. Bonsall on June 16, 1946 in Spring Valley, Minnesota.
Evelyn and her husband owned and operated “Bon-Mar Grocery Store” in Waterloo, Iowa. When they sold the family store, Evelyn worked as a receptionist for area hospitals and doctor offices.
Evelyn was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, the AMVETS Lady’s Auxiliary, Elklets of Waterloo and Cedar Valley Hospice.
Evelyn enjoyed reading, card playing, and an occasional trip to the Waterloo Isle Casino. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters - Sheila (Robert) Stickell of Teeds Grove, IA and Janet (friend – Jerry Lindsey) Bonsall of Visalia, CA; two granddaughters – Emily ( Rick) Kroytz of OR and Laura (Adam) Andress of TX; great-grandchildren – Titan, Addie, Keegan and Urijah; three step-grandchildren – Bill, Jodi and Shawn; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents, husband, sisters – Edna and Francis and brothers – Lloyd and Andy.
