Eleanor E. Starr, 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Living Center - South on Monday, August 17, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eleanor was born November 27, 1922 in rural Van Buren county - Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Morrison) Dodds. Eleanor graduated from Bonaparte High School in Bonaparte, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Francis Starr on March 1, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri.
Eleanor was a homemaker. She and her husband were members of the Moose in Clinton.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and loved to make keep sakes for the grandkids. She also loved to play cards, especially with her card club. She also had a passion for playing Bingo. She looked forward to Yahtzee Sundays when she would play the game for hours with her son and daughter-law. She also loved watching baseball, especially following her St. Louis Cardinals.
Eleanor is survived by her son Robert (Peggy) Starr of Clinton, IA.; two grandsons - Gregory (Connie) Starr of Cedar Rapids, IA., Nathan Starr of Geneseo, Il.; two great grandsons - Nicholas and Nolan Starr of Cedar Rapids, IA. with several nieces, nephews, cousins and the many friends she had met through her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis, an infant son, one brother and one sister.
