Earlen Lettie Smith, 54, of Maquoketa, Iowa passed away at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Friday, July 28, 2017. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of her life taking place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Earlen was born September 23, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Hobart and Maryann (Curry) Norcutt. She was united in marriage to Tony Smith Sr., however they would later divorce but remain lifelong companions.
Earlen enjoyed reading, surfing the internet on her computer and she loved to cook.
Earlen is survived by her life partner Tony Smith Sr. of Maquoketa, IA; two daughters – Vanessa Kirby of France and Angela (Gary) Newlin of Clinton, IA; two sons – Billy Devers of Germany, James (Darcy) Carle of Maquoketa, IA; twelve step-children; several grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; two sisters - Waverly Arlowe of Chicago, IL and Tina Crissman of Moline, IL; four brothers – Timothy Norcutt of Chicago, IL, David Norcutt of FL, Allen Norcutt of Chicago, IL, and Mike (Nancy) Schipper of Maquoketa, one brother in-law Kenny Fox of Iowa; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Earlen in death were her parents, one daughter, one sister and one brother, one brother in-law and one sister in-law.
