Dorthea “Dardis” Marlowe, 87, of Charlotte, Iowa, passed away at The Alverno on Thursday, March 3, 2022. A visitation occurs from 11 am until 1 pm on Tuesday, March 8, at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. A Graveside Service and burial will immediately follow the visitation at Center Grove Cemetery. A Luncheon takes place at 2pm for family and friends at the Millennium in Goose Lake. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Dorthea was born August 27, 1934 in Osceola, Iowa, and was raised by her loving grandmother.
She was united in marriage to David Marlowe on September 13, 1952, in Osceola, Iowa.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Delmar United Methodist Church.
Dorthea enjoyed socializing and people watching. She was a wonderful, caring woman who had kindness in her heart for everyone. Dorthea was very well known for her popcorn balls and she also enjoyed crocheting. She was always up for an adventure and was a foundation of strength for her family and friends. Above all, Dorthea loved her children and grandchildren very much. She will be greatly missed.
Dorthea is survived by her children — Linda (Doug) Schmidt, Drew (Rhonda) Marlowe and Stacey (Patrick) Brown; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two half-sisters — Cecile Stevens and Martha Ballard; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons and one great-grandson.
