Dorothy Anna Smith, 79, of Camanche, Iowa passed away peacefully at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab Center in Clinton, Iowa on January 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche, Iowa. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy was born October 31, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Bryon and Anna (Flaherty) Thiles. In 1960 she was united in marriage to William Smith in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Dorothy was a traditional homemaker and cherished taking care of her husband and family. She also loved animals and treated them just like people. She had a very kind heart for special needs people, especially children and loved helping the deaf using sign language. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends, however above all she loved her family very much and will be very sadly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her husband William Smith of Camanche, IA.; two sons - Tony Smith of Maquoketa, IA. and Kenneth Fox of Camanche, IA.; one loving sister - Eulanda "Lonnie" (Robert) Parrish of Council Bluffs, IA., and many friends.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents.
Honoring Dorothy's love of animals, memorials made should be directed to the Clinton Humane Society in her name.
