Donald L. Hartman, 77 of Fulton, IL and formerly from Savanna, IL was welcomed into heaven at Harbor Crest Nursing Home on October 13, 2012 after a valiant battle with Multiple Myleoma.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been done and there will be no services. A private burial will take place at a later time. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Don was born September 21, 1935 the son of Jesse & Hazel Green Hartman in Mt. Carroll, IL. He married Doris Cole on September 1, 1962 & they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 – 1960, and spent 41 years working for The Milwaukee Railroad, retiring in 1992.
Don loved playing cards with his friends, going on bus trips, spending time with his family – especially his 2 grandsons, who were the light of his life. He never missed an event that his grandsons were in.
Don is survived by his loving wife Doris of Fulton, IL; daughter Vickie & son-in-law Breton, who was just like a son to him from Clinton, IA; Grandsons: Bradley (Brianne) of West Des Moines, IA & Bryce of Cedar Falls, IA; and a sister Darlene of Milledgeville, IL
He was preceded in death by his Father & Mother.
