Donald E. Davis Sr., 69, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Honoring his final request, cremation rites have been accorded with no services. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Donald was born July 17, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa the son of William and Audrey (Sanders) Davis. Donald served in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War, receiving two Purple Hearts in the 11th Armored Cavalry.
Donald was united in marriage to Marjorie Meighan on April 16, 1972 in Clinton, Iowa. He worked for the City of Clinton, Street Division, retiring after 37 years as a Superintendent.
Donald loved the outdoors especially fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and metal detecting. He also loved working with wood, making various items including a rocking horse for his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the gun range and shooting. He also loved his fur babies – his Cocker Spaniels – Max and Casper. Above all he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife Marjorie of Clinton, IA; one daughter – Wendy Davis of Clinton, IA; two sons – Jim (Nancy) Schmidt of Belleville, Il and Baron Davis of FL; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren – with one on the way; 4 brothers and 1 sister; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Donald in death were his parents, one son – Donnie, 1 brother and 1 sister.
