Obituary for Donald Brown Sr.

Donald Eugene Brown, Sr., 90, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center South on October 20, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald was born August, 3 1924 in Emmett, Kansas the son of Louis and Martha (Clark) Brown. Donald was united in marriage to Louise Vovos on January 9, 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri; Louise passed away in 1985. Donald was a past member of the Moose, AMVETS Post 28 and was an active member in the Zion Lutheran Church.
Donald spent the majority of his time focusing on the business that he owned and operated, Clinton Wholesale Foods. However he was most proud of the three bedroom cabin that he built in the 1950's located on the Wisconsin River near Lake Delton, Wisconsin. He also enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas, visiting his sister. In addition, he enjoyed collecting antiques.
Donald is survived by one son - Donald Brown Jr. of Lone Tree, IA; one step-daughter Carol Baty of Upland, CA; one grand-daughter - Rachael (Jeff) Schroeder of Fort Myers, FL; one brother - Louis Brown of Clinton, IA; one great grandson Logan Schroeder at home; with several step-grandchildren and his special friend Michelle Malli of Clinton, IA.
Preceding Donald in death were his parents, his wife Louise, two sisters, one brother, one step-son, one daughter in-law and two granddaughters.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
