Obituary for Dixie L. Handy (Bealer)

Dixie L. Handy, 78, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Select Specialty Hospital on Friday, November 25, 2022. Funeral services occur at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 30, at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. A visitation takes place one hour prior from 1 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dakota Handy, Raymond Handy, Johnathon Lund and Art Barber. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Dixie was born October 22, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (Shadle) Bealer. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Handy on November 2, 1963 at the Zion Lutheran Church – together in marriage for 59 years.

She was a past member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Northside Church of God.

Dixie worked at several business in Clinton, most notably, Burpee Seed Company, Swiss Colony and PFC.

Dixie enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. She also enjoyed taking long rides up and down the Mississippi river with her husband in their Jeep. She also loved dining out and loved going to Happy Joe’s in Clinton to eat and socialize with the staff and friends. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Dixie is survived by Her husband Kenneth of Clinton; son - Raymond Handy of Clinton; daughter – Jane Lund of Camanche; four grandchildren – Johnathon, Jessica, Dakota and Chloe all of Clinton; one great-granddaughter – Estella; three sisters - Carol Mahoney of Camanche, Pasty (Art) Barber of DeWitt, and Sandy (Bob) Byers of Clinton; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson - Giovanni Morris; two sisters - Darlene and Mary and one brother – Butch.
