Obituary for Diane F. "DeeDee" Carlson

Diane “DeeDee” F. Carlson, 65 of Albany, Illinois, passed away at home on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will take place at 11am on Monday, August 8 at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Route 30 Aurora, Illinois – with Father Leake presiding over the service. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

She was a 1974 graduate of East Aurora High School. Following high school, she graduated from the Police Academy in Springfield, Illinois and began her 20+ year career as an Aurora, Illinois Police Officer.

Diane loved the outdoors, especially fishing and taking seasonal trips to Panama City Beach, Florida where she spent most of her time enjoying her view of the ocean. She also enjoyed games of chance and enjoyed visiting Las Vegas.

She helped and cared for other people throughout her entire life. Whether at work, play or when traveling she made friends everywhere she went and touched so many lives. Everyone who knew her loved her – she will be greatly missed.

Diane is survived by her mother - Goldie Carlson; one sister – Rayanne Carlson; two brothers – Mick (Kim) Carlson and Steve Carlson; she was “Aunt Dee” to Michael, Jacob, Diane and Katelynn Carlson. She was "Great Aunt Dee” to Jayme Okapal, Wanjala, Emma, Charlee and Michael Carlson Jr. Aunts – Margaret Bauman and Linda Hornyan; Uncles Al and Don Hornyan and many, many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Ray and nephew – Steven Carlson Jr.
