Dennis “Brian” Gene Douglas Jr., 50, of Morning Sun, Iowa (formerly of Clinton), passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Monday, January 7, 2019. Funeral services will occur at 1 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur 1 - hour prior from 12 pm until the service hour on Monday. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Dennis was born August 12, 1968 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Dennis Sr. and Kathryn (Shriver) Douglas.
Dennis was a construction worker for many years. In 2007, Dennis was a victim of a violent act that left him paralyzed, with the perpetrator still at-large. Although he was disabled, Dennis never complained.
Early in life, Dennis enjoyed the outdoors especially boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a hardworking man who never walked away from a tough job. Above all, he loved his family dearly and will be sadly missed.
Dennis is survived by his mother – Kathryn Laxton of KY and his father – Dennis Gene Douglas Sr.; his children – Brian (Elizabeth) Bode of Sterling, IL, Amber Frieberg of Erie, Il, Ashley Collis of Clarence, IA, Tommy (Kallie) Teubert of Clinton, Valbona Deari of Clinton, Desiree Anderson of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; sister – Denise (Jeff) Laxton of KY; brother – Eddy (Michelle) Douglas of Clinton and Danny (Mary) Douglas of Clinton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Dennis in death were his grandson – Bryce Bode; brothers – Gary and Bobby Douglas.
