David was born May 24, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Elmer and Vera (Niles) Miller.
Dave lived in a variety of towns, until moving to his current home in Clinton to be closer to his family.

He was an amazing man and was loved by all who cared for him. Dave's simple pleasures in life taught us all to enjoy the simple things and to learn from each other -using very few words.

Dave loved sitting on the deck and enjoying a sunny day. He would sit in his chair and soak in the sun for hours on end. When hearing the lawn mower, he could be found sitting on his footstool looking out the bay window and watching all that was happening in his world. From watching the lawn being mowed, to observing the neighbors and their dog, or just watching the traffic go by - Dave found joy in this simple pleasure. He lived a simple life and found joy in working with his strings every day. It was amazing to see his eyes light up and hear him sing when his favorite Christmas songs were played for him - Silver Bells was his favorite Christmas song. He would sing along to the entire song and listen to it again and again. He had a great sense of humor and a great belly laugh when those who cared for him would joke around with Dave. He would get a laugh at the opportunity to get others wet with the sprayer when they least expected it. His humor will be remembered by everyone who shared his life.

Community time was important to Dave. He enjoyed volunteer activities and spending time outside with his friends. Dave looked forward to packing his lunch and leaving for a few hours to enjoy the outdoors, make friends and help others. Karaoke was another favorite past time, as well as eating out, and enjoying time at area parks. Dave loved his food.

Dave felt valued by those caring for him and was good at establishing trusting relationships. He always made people smile just by being himself. Dave was a very gentle person and those who cared for him value how much Dave taught us throughout our time with him. He taught patience, kindness, humor, wonder and most of all, how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Dave will be greatly missed by those who have had the honor of helping him throughout his life.

David is survived by his sister in-law Caryl Miller of Clinton and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers – Maurice and Harvey.

Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
