Obituary for David G. Dever

David G. Dever, 81, of Sabula, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center – North on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of his life will take place, with family receiving relatives and friends, on Sunday, April 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - North Chapel (2304 North Second Street). Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
David was born August 19, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John and Elna (Kuehl) Dever. David was united in marriage to Dixie Kriesler in 1955, she passed away in 1989. He then married Donna Milder on December 30, 1992, she passed away on July 16, 2015.
David was a Union Carpenter working on significant projects in the Clinton area. He would eventually retire from Air Control, Inc.
David enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and was a member of the Sabula VFW. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Above all he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David is survived by his three daughters – Wendy (Hank) Evans, Karla (David) Schwartz and Jill Swanson all of Clinton, IA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother – Mike (Patti) Dever of Delmar, IA; two sisters – Carol Bruland of MI and Lana (Ken) Andre of FL; his step-mother – Alice Dever and step-sister – Sandra Kohl, both of Clinton.
Preceding David in death were his father and mother, his first wife Dixie, his second wife Donna, one son Daniel, one grandson – Justin Swanson, three brothers and one sister.
