Obituary for Darlene Catherine Coder

Darlene Catherine (Petersen) Coder, 86, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Sunday, October 9, 2016. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A celebration of life will occur 3 hours prior from 12:00 p.m. until time of the graveside service on Wednesday at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darlene was born January 2, 1930, in Charlotte, Iowa. She was the daughter of Morris and Alma (Voss) Petersen. Darlene married Wayne C. Coder on July 18, 1954 in Rock Falls, Illinois.

Darlene retired from the Clinton Community School District having worked in the cafeteria at Washington Junior High School for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kirkwood PTA Study Club, Tuesday morning Bible Class and Clinton County Gateway Genealogy.

Survivors include her children - Thomas, Steven, Ronald (John) Lawrence-Coder and James Coder, all of Clinton and Dennis Coder of San Francisco, CA; brothers - Richard Petersen, Larry (Joyce) Petersen, Kenneth (Nancy) Petersen and June Houser; grandchildren - Anne (Keith) Price, Michelle Follett, Michael Coder, Bruce (Brenda) Murphy, Leslie Scruggs, Ray Coder, Cassie Coder, Jennifer White and Crystal Coder; great-grandchildren - Jason (Lindsay) Totten, Samantha Coder, Michael Coder, Samantha Miller (Jared Morhardt), Samanda Coder and Michael Coder; great-great grandchildren - Keegan Totten, Addison Totten, Karcyn Morhardt, with several nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband - Wayne; sons - Bruce and Eugene; sisters - Shirley Smith and Donna DeSaw; sister-in-law - Margaret Coder; brother in-laws - Robert Houser, Pierce Smith, Don DeSaw, grandsons - Michael Murphy, Brian Coder, and great grandchildren - Pattie, Michael and John.

Darlene's family would like to give a special thanks to The Alverno for the loving care and friendship they gave to our mother.
