Darcey was born on June 17, 1980, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Sandra (DeVries) Leu. She was a 1998 graduate of East Central (Miles) High School. She would continue her education receiving an Associate's Degree from Clinton Community College in 2000, in 2003 she then acquired her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology of Health and Human Service Management from Mount Saint College, where she also received the Charles W. Mooney Social Science Award, finally in 2007, she earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Ashford University.
Darcey worked at Multiband Corporation as a Regional Director covering the areas of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Louisiana, Florida.
As a child, she was very interested in sports including: swimming, Tae Kwon Do, basketball, volleyball, softball and boating. Her love for sports continued into her adult life where she continued playing softball with friends.
Darcey loved socializing and would engage in deep conversations and provide perfect advice for any situation. Above all, she had the deepest love for her family.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated big sister and loving friend. Despite a two-year battle with cancer, Darcey never stopped living life to the fullest. Darcey's family grew by three in 2015 when she married the love of her life, Angela Jacobs and became the stepmother to her son, Cameron Peel. One year later, on May 27, 2016, Darcey and Angela welcomed Jaxson William Leu into their lives. Jaxson's birth gave Darcey a new purpose in life, as he became her motivation, her light, her rock and her energy to continue her fight. Darcey was surrounded with unconditional love from her core people - Angie, her parents, her twin brothers - Justin (Ryan Mason) Leu and Jacob (Kayla) Leu, her sister - Callie Leu, her children, her aunt - Susan Huling and countless other family members and friends.
Family and friends will remember Darcey by these words - "Looking back, I don't think I would change a thing about the way I was brought up. My parents taught me values, integrity, how to prioritize and, most of all, the importance of embracing life. I was diagnosed with stage four cancer; my life was put on a timeline by doctors. There seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. At that moment, I looked around and saw I didn't need a light at the end of the tunnel. Everybody around me was shining the light on me throughout my whole journey."
Darcey is survived by her wife, her two children; her father - John (Allison) Leu and her mother - Sandra Leu; two brothers; one sister and several nieces and nephews.
Through this battle Darcey would've wanted to thank the core people in her life. Angie, her wife, for being the most patient loving and supportive spouse. Her parents John and Sandra who never left her side and showed her unconditional love, her twin brothers Justin and Ryan and Jacob and Kayla for the honor to be their big sister and her Aunt Sue for finding the strength to be by her side after recently losing her husband Jeff to cancer.
The family wishes to thank the caring, honest and professional staff at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, especially Dr. Berg for his honest human approach with her battle with cancer; as well as, the seventh floor Palliative Care Unit in Iowa City.
The family wants to thank the entire surrounding communities for their endless loving support to Darcey and her family.
Finally, John, Sandra, Jacob and Justin would like to thank Angie for loving Darcey unconditionally and giving her the greatest gift of all – motherhood.
