Obituary for Clarine "Rena" Lewis Ms.

Clarine "Ms. Rena" Lewis, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at her home on January 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Clarine was born August 15, 1929 in South Hill, Virginia the daughter of Richard Pettus and Alice Carter. Clarine was married to Melvin Lewis who later passed in 1956. She was then married to Velpo Anthony who also passed away.
For many years Clarine worked at City Hall in Chicago, Illinois in the janitorial department. She relocated to Clinton in the 1990's to get closer to her family- especially her grandchildren.
Clarine liked to visit the Casino here in Clinton and when she lived in Chicago enjoyed going to Church. She also enjoyed listening to music. She loved her family dearly and was always happy to see her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of her special friend John Knox.
Clarine is survived two daughters - Fanny (Kenneth) Davis of Clinton, IA., Patricia Banks of Clinton, IA.; three sons - Mason Lewis of Clinton, IA., Melvin (Stephanie) Lewis of Muskegon, MI, Anthony Lewis of Phoenix, AZ; many grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, one sister and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a host of friends and her dear friend John Knox of Clinton, IA.
Preceding Clarine in death were her parents, two brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Memorial made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
