Obituary for Christine Drake Mrs.

Christine Drake, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Eagle Point Health Care Center on Monday, September 25, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Springdale Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Christine was born August 4, 1926 in Sledge, Mississippi, the daughter of Monroe and Pearle (Dickerson) Anderson. She was united in marriage to Roger Drake in 1975.
Christine was a dedicated faithful follower of Jesus and her Baptist faith. She was a long-time member of the Second Baptist Church in Clinton. She was a very active member within the Church and carried the appointment of Church Mother for many years.
Christine worked at International Paper, as a machine operator, retiring after 23 years of service.
Christine loved to crochet, as well as, cooking for her family and friends. She was a very hard-working woman, always putting her faith and family ahead of her own needs and wants. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
Christine is survived by one daughter – Patsy (Richard) Johnson of Clinton, IA; one granddaughter – Verlinda Jacobs of Clinton, IA; one grandson – Kris (Enjolla Dupree) Cummings of Signal Hill, CA ; two great-granddaughters – Cheryl (Kyle) Smith of Washington, D.C. and Monica Jacobs of Clinton, IA; one sister – Ruth Yarboro of Cleveland, OH; with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Christine in death were her parents, her husband, one sister, two brothers and other extended family members.
Memorials made can be directed to the Second Baptist Church.
