Mr. Charles Ervin McWilliams Sr., 70, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 12, 2016. A Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, at the Free in Jesus Outreach Ministries Church, in Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will occur from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the Church. Burial will take place on Monday, August 22 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Charles Ervin McWilliams Sr. was born May 13, 1946 to the late Dan and Corene McWilliams of Memphis Tennessee. Charles professed his faith in Christ at Parkway Garden Presbyterian Church and later joined Free in Jesus Ministries where he was a dedicated member and usher.
He was united in holy matrimony on July 5, 1970 to the late JoAnn Golston. To this union of 22 years 2 children were born; CrisCynthia Evette and Charles Jr. who everyone knew as "fella".
Charles served in the United States Navy, a Korean War Veteran, for 4 years and worked for International Harvester for 20 + years.
Charles is survived by one daughter CrisCynthia (Pastor Jerry) Drake of Clinton, IA, two brothers Raymond(Phyllis) McWilliams of Memphis TN, Reginald McWilliams of Memphis TN, 5 sisters Estella McGee of Atlanta GA, Diane Golston of Memphis TN, Beverly McWilliams of Memphis TN, and Antionette(Anthony) Johnson of Cordova TN. He has five grandchildren, Criseanica(Brandon) Bowden, Franklin Jones V, Joanna Drake, Jerell Drake, and Josalynn Drake all of Clinton IA. He has 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents, one sister Cynthia McWilliams, his wife JoAnn McWilliams and his only son Charles Ervin McWilliams Jr.
