Obituary for Charles M. Barr

Charles M. Barr, 87, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center South facility on March 17, 2014. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service with burial at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles was born June 4, 1926 in Hammond, Illinois the son of Asa and Julie (James) Barr. Charles was a 1944 graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, Illinois. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and saw active combat throughout the European Theatre of Operations during WWII. Upon his return from service he married June King on October 2, 1945 - she later passed. He was later united in marriage to LeAnn Yaddof on November 18, 1972 in Clinton, Iowa.
Charles began his career farming then worked at Clinton Corn Processing Company for 20 years. He later retired from American Xyrofin Inc. in Thomson, Illinois after 7 years. Charles loved to build things out of wood and was noted as being able to fix just about anything. Later in life he enjoyed spending time in his garden.
Charles is survived by his wife LeAnn of Clinton, IA.; one daughter - Diane (Richard) Nelson of Clinton, IA., two sons - James (Libby) Barr of FL. and Charles (Jenny) Barr Jr. of Clinton, IA.; step children - Bonnie Lennon of Atlanta, Ga.; Carol Grimes of Austin, TX. Betty Mottet of The Villages of FL., Daniel Budde of Clinton, IA.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents, his first wife June, one daughter - Robin and one son - Raymond.
Memorial made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
