Chance Layton Peska, 3 months, died Thursday, June 02, 2011, in his home.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Lemke Funeral Homes, North Chapel, 2304 No.2nd Street. Visitation will be held from 4p.m. until time of service, also at the funeral home.
Lemke Funeral Homes has been assisting the family.
Chance was born March 14, 2011 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Kelly Mandrell and Nicholas Peska.
Survivors include his parents, Kelly Mandrell and Nicholas Peska, of Clinton, Grandparents Kristy (Jim ) Bartels, Grandmother Kayla Said of Maquoketa, Grandparents Paul ( Michelle ) Peska, of Clinton, Grandfather Matthew Bledsoe of St. Louis, Great Grandparents Diana ( Timothy ) Mandrell, of Clinton, Great Grandparents, Roseanne ( Jim ) Peska, of Albany, IL., many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa David Said, of Maquoketa, Greatgrandparents Gloria and Eugene Stierman, Great Great Grandma Maxine, Cousin Mercedes Dietrick, and family friend Mary Brown.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and social workers that took care of Chance. A special thank you to Clarissa C.Cook Hospice staff.

A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.
