Obituary for Cecil E. Fidler

Cecil E. Fidler, 84, of Camanche, Iowa passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Hospitals in Davenport, Iowa on Thursday, January 14, 2016. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, at the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will occur two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Cecil was born December 22, 1931 in Floris, Iowa the son of Edward and Irene (Fuller) Fidler . He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. Cecil served his County in the U.S . Army during the Korean War.
Cecil was united in marriage to Marilyn Kent on November 30, 1958 in Agency, Iowa.
Cecil was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton. He was also a Freemason and a member of Masonic Lodge 60 in Camanche, Iowa. He was also a fellow member in the Scottish Rites, as well as, a Kaaba Shriner with the Legion of Honor.
Cecil worked for the Waldorf Corporation for 37 years, retiring in January 1997.
He enjoyed traveling, especially taking bus trips and camping. He loved donating his time taking children to the Children's Shriners Hospital in Chicago. He loved his family very much especially his grand-daughter.
Cecil is survived by his wife Marilyn of Camanche, IA; one daughter- Brenda (Jim) Murray of Clinton, IA; one son- Gary Fidler of Camanche, IA and one grand-daughter- Candace Murray of Clinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
