Carolyn Jean Vest, 77, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center – North on Sunday, February 18, 2018. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation will occur from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 23 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Carolyn was born April 29, 1940 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Luther and Lucille (Potter) Garman. She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and following high school, would graduate from the Ottumwa Beauty Academy.
Carolyn was united in marriage to Kenneth "Kenny" Vest on June 7, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
She was a longtime member of the Lyons Trinity United Methodist Church, as well as, the Church Women's Society. She was very artistic and loved to draw and paint. She honored to paint a portrait of the Winnie the Pooh characters on a church wall in the children's area.
Carolyn enjoyed playing cards, especially in her card clubs. She loved going to parade's and family re-unions. She loved the holidays, spending time with the family and socializing at holiday dinners. She also enjoyed shopping and bowling on her bowling team. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her husband - Kenny of Clinton, IA; 2 daughters – Kathy Foster of Springfield, OR and Lisa (Jeff) Heimbaugh of Clinton, IA; 7 grandchildren – Ambur, Stephanie, Brandon, Shawn, Allison, Nicholas, Rachel and 2 great-grandchildren – Dallis and Ethan with several nieces, nephews, two cousins and many friends.
Preceding Carolyn in death were her parents and 1 brother.
