Obituary for Carol Jeanne Wilkerson (Peterson)
Carol Jeanne Wilkerson, 91, of Clinton (formerly of Fulton) passed away at the Alverno on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Funeral services take place at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, December 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation occurs one-hour prior from 11:30 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Carol was born May 18, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Glenn and Muriel (Weinbeck) Peterson. She was a 1948 graduate of Clinton High School.
Carol was united in marriage to John Wilkerson on May 1, 1971 in Clinton.
She worked at Nielson’s Clearing House for 10 years and then was a homemaker.
Carol was a long-time member of the Chancy Lutheran Church and then Bethel Community Reformed Church, Fulton.
Carol loved spending time her garden. Additionally, she and John loved bicycling and walking. She enjoyed ceramics and cake decorating, as well as, playing cards with friends. Following her husband’s retirement, they loved going on ocean cruises.
Carol is survived by one brother – James (Debra) Peterson of Bryant, IA and one sister – Sheila McGinn of Clinton; close friend and her family – Victoria Cardwell, with several nieces, nephews and many other friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – John, son - Don and sister – Joyce.
