Obituary for Carol Ann Mahoney (Edens)

Carol Ann Mahoney, 81, of Camanche, Iowa passed away at MercyOne Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa on Tuesday, December 20,2022. Funeral services occur at 11 am on Wednesday, December 28, at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. A visitation takes place from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, December 27 at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services with burial at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Carol was born September 1, 1941 in Decorah, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (Shadle) Edens. She was united in marriage to James Mahoney on February 6, 1960 in Clinton.

She was a past member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Carol began her career as a meter reader then was a Manager for Prairie Village and concluded her career as a cashier at the Kwik Star in Camanche.

Carol was an avid fan of dirt-track racing, loading up the kids on Saturday and watching the races in Maquoketa was a weekly routine. While at the race, she loved following her favorite driver, husband James. Later in life she loved getting on her computer and playing “Pogo”. However, everything in life was secondary to her family, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be incredibly missed.

Carol is survived by her children - Donald (Su) Mahoney of Morrison, IL, Darla (Joe) Fluhr of Dubuque, IA, Danelle (David Erling) Clark of Clinton, Darren Mahoney of Clinton, Daniel (Chris) Mahoney of Bradenton, Fl, Duwayne (Rachel) Mahoney of Clinton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters - Pasty (Art) Barber of DeWitt, and Sandy (Bob) Byers of Clinton; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and very special friend – Doug Sharp of Camanche.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - James, two daughters - Debbie Scalfaro and Diane Goldensoph; one granddaughter - Alanna Goldensoph three sisters – Darlene, Mary and Dixie and one brother – Butch.
