Obituary for Bruce C. Mays

Bruce C. Mays, 35, of Clinton, Iowa passed away, unexpectedly, at home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A Visitation will occur three hours, prior to the Memorial service, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Bruce was born April 6, 1982 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Brenda (Gee) Mays. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Bruce was united in marriage to Jennifer Mackin on October 10, 2015 in DeWitt, Iowa.
He worked as a CNC Machinist for The Jewel Group in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Bruce loved music, both listening and playing. He was an accomplished musician playing both drums and guitar - he loved jamming with his dad and brothers. He also loved wood working and he was an artistic painter and sketcher. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Bruce loved playing golf, especially with his brothers, for long hours at a time. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was just sitting by his fire pit or tending to his garden. He was a kind, loving and vibrant person that loved life and would help anyone in need. He was a great father and loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Jennifer of Clinton, his son, with whom he adored – Lennon; his grandmother – Connie (Fugate) Gee of Clinton; his parents – Brenda (Gee) Mays of Camanche and Ralph Mays of Clinton; two brothers – Brent Mays of Clinton and Bryan (Sarah) Mays of Port Byron, IL; two aunts – Beckie (David) Pratt of Houston, TX and Kari Geary of Clinton; one uncle – Daniel (Lisa) Gee of Clinton; his mother and father – in-law – Joseph and Donna Mackin of DeWitt; one sister in-law – Jessica (Axel) Seikola of DeWitt; two brother in-laws – Jacob (Lanie) Mackin of Maquoketa and Joshua (Joanna) Wright of DeWitt; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Bruce in death were his grandfather – Charles and great-grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made can be directed to Jennifer and her son.
