Obituary for Bruce Carder

Bruce Leon Carder, 59 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids on Saturday, June 15th, 2013. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Covenant Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery.
Bruce was born on December 8th, 1953 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Keith and Shirley (Eickert) Carder. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after serving four years. He was united in marriage to Vivian Ballard on November 13th, 2004 at the Little Brown Church.
Bruce was employed with Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center for 11 years.
Following his Father's footsteps, Bruce enjoyed boxing and in 1971 he won the novice golden gloves in the 118 pound class in Des Moines, Iowa. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bruce is survived by his wife Vivian Carder of Cedar Rapids, IA; his children - Klaiten Carder, Stephanie Carder and Ericah Carder all of Clinton, IA; step-children - Rusty Jones and Jason Huling, Michelle Knox of Racine, WI.; four grandchildren - Hailei Pettit, Dakota Pettit, James Ansell and Revah Ready; his Father - Keith Carder of Clinton, IA; siblings - Loretta (Phil) Coppess of Clinton, IA., Brenda (Everett) O'Shogay of Cedar Rapids, IA., Pam (Chris) Reedy of Andover, IA., James Carder of Sabula and Kelly (AJ) Carder of Clinton, Ia.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers - John and Kent Carder; one sister - Paula Jean Carder and one step daughter - Shauna Sharp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his children, in Bruce's name, at 1618 Kenilworth Court, Clinton, Iowa.
