Obituary for Bruce Brown

Bruce Dale Brown, 87, of Sabula, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Friday, May 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton). A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bruce was born August 30, 1927 in Miles, Iowa, the son of Vilas F. and Velma (Leslie) Brown. He attended schools in Clinton County. During the conclusion of WWII, Bruce, at a young age, entered into the Merchant Marines. Following his service in the Merchant Marines, he would enlist in the U.S. Marines, a veteran of the Korean War, with a combined service to his Country of ten years. On April 16, 1950 Bruce was united in marriage to Selma Richter in Clinton, Iowa.
Bruce was a maintenance mechanic at the Clinton DuPont Plant, retiring after 30+ years, he also farmed in Sabula. Bruce was a Freemason and a member of the Camanche, Iowa Masonic Temple.
Bruce came from an era where you started working at a very young age, and he loved staying busy. He loved woodworking, which included tearing down old barns and then building new houses or making furniture out of the barn wood he collected. He also loved farming and passing the time by reading or simply enjoying the outdoors and nature. He loved all animals but was very close to his favorite dog Scotty.
Bruce is survived by one son - Bruce (Dani) Brown of Sabula, IA.; three daughters - Cindy (Michael) Fullick of Sabula, IA., Amanda (Tim) Studemann of Ashland City, TN.; Liza (Aaron) Montgomery of Cherry Valley, Il.; five grandchildren; with two brothers, two sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Bruce in death were his parents, his wife Selma, daughter Lisbeth, one brother and one sister.
