Obituary for Bobby Dean "Bob" Caven

Bobby “Bob” Dean Caven, 72, of Clinton, Iowa, died January 7th, 2020 in Iowa City after a brave 2-year battle with cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services will take place at 2 pm on Friday, January 10, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation occurs two-hours prior from 12 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Bobby was born on January 24, 1947, to Leonard and Alice (Marvin) Caven in Maquoketa, Iowa.
He farmed with his brother Garold, and nephews Joe and Curtis Caven outside of Clinton.
Bobby married Ruth Taplin, they had three children, Bobbi, Brent, and Bethany.

Bob was a devoted father and farmer. He loved his farm, spending time with family, attending his grandkids’ activities, playing cards and penny slots. Those who knew him will remember him always smiling, chuckling, and lending a helping hand.

Bob is survived by his children; Bobbi Schroeder, Brent (Sara) Caven, and Bethany (Noah) Ryker. Grandchildren Samantha, Chandler, and Nathaniel Schroeder, Jace, Reece, and Cael Caven, and Andrew Ryker. Great Grandchildren; Braedon, Kaylee, Bryston and Kyla Schroeder. Siblings; Iona Brewer, Betty Sear, Carol (Cal) Neymeyer, Garold (Cathy) Caven, Pat (John) Bahnsen, Nancy Meyer, and Mary (Jim) Clary, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Dawson, brother-in- laws Elmer Brewer and Lew Sear, and nephews Don and Mitch Brewer.
