Betty Jane Rettkowski, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Mercy Living Center North. Honoring Betty's wishes cremation rites will be accorded with private services and burial at Rose Hill Cemetery held at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty was born December 9, 1923 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Harold and Ruth (Parker) Flack. She was a graduate of Clinton High School and also attended Mount Saint Clare College where she acquired her nursing certificate. Betty worked as a nurse for 20+ years; she enjoyed working for Schick Army Hospital and it's various health care facility progressions over the years. Betty was also very proud of volunteering for the Clinton Fire Department during WWII.
Betty was a past member of the AMVETS here in Clinton. She enjoyed baking, socializing with her friends and loved her dog Princess. She also loved to clean and was often seen with her trusty bristle broom sweeping the floors. Above all, she loved her family very much and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
Betty is survived by five daughters, four sons, with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and one sister.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, her husband and two brothers.
