Obituary for Betty Krick

Betty J. Krick, 90, of Clinton passed away peacefully at the Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab Center on Monday, October 24th, 2011. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 29th, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Clinton Iowa. Visitation will occur 3 hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family.
Betty was born on January 4th, 1921 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Nellie (Phillips) Leeper. She married Cyril H. Gustavison on September 21st 1942. Cyril died serving his Country in WWII on December 17th 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge. She married Harry Krick on May 21st, 1960 in Davenport, Iowa. He passed away March 19th, 1985.
Betty worked as a secretary for several local insurance agencies and was also a home maker. Betty was a member of the Izaak Walton League, a Member of First United Methodist Church, The Clinton Women's Club, The Mercy Auxiliary (was instrumental in starting the coffee bar), President of the 4-H Club of Clinton County, The Red Hat's Club, The Women's Bowling League, and attended several Missions Trips sponsored by the Church.
She enjoyed traveling – especially spending time in Canada with her family and friends, she enjoyed participating on church sponsored mission trips to several foreign counties and the United States, she also enjoyed watching professional and college sports, and for 40+ years she loved playing Yahtzee with family and friends.
Betty is survived by 1 daughter – Nan (Thomas) Waldorf of Clinton, 4 grand daughters, 11 great grand children, 2 step-sons – Philip of Clinton, Garland (Pat ) of Mount Carroll, Illinois, 17 step grand children, 22 step great grand children, 1 sister – Hazel May Burgert of Lawrence, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 2 step- children Kay Guenzler and Jim Krick, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 great grand daughter – Kylee Hyde.
