Obituary for Bernard Ray "Bernie" Vulich

Bernard “Bernie” R. Vulich, 90, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Eagle Point Nursing Home on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Private family burial services will take place on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Bernard was born January 27, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Joe and Sophia (Bogich) Vulich. He was a 1946 graduate of Clinton High School and attended the Gayle Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bernard joined the U.S. Army Air Force, serving 3 years during WWII.

Bernard was united in marriage to Darline LeRol, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa on October 4, 1955.

Bernard was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 43 years where he operated the rail bridge in Clinton. He was as a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton. He was also a member of the American Legion #190.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching his favorite sports teams - the Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.

Bernard is survived by one daughter – Julie Vulich of Madison WI; two sons – Dan Vulich of Parkersburg, WV and Nick Vulich of Davenport, IA; with 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Preceding Bernard in death were his parents, his wife, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
