Obituary for Benjamin Harlston
Benjamin (Ben) George Harlston III, 57, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at MercyOne hospital on Sunday September 26, 2021. Honoring his wishes cremation right have been accorded and a private family gathering will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Ben was born April 13, 1964 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Armelia (Brown) Harlston and Benjamin Harlston.
Ben worked as a chef at a local diner and as a mechanic for many years for Gary Harts auto shop. Ben attended grammar, middle and high school in Chicago, Illinois. Ben was an honor roll student through out his years in school, Ben joined the wrestling team in high school and won several trophies. Ben loved cooking and grilling and hanging out with his relatives and friends.
Ben is survived by his children- a daughter; Shade Elise, and four sons- Joshua Michael, Isaiah Michael, Daniel Jacob, and Benjamin Joseph Harlston. His grand-children- Serenity Elise Toang and London Harlston. Two sisters- Debra Logan and Beverly Williams of Clinton; and three brothers- Dwayne, Kenyetta Swift, and Eric Steve and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, brothers- Pertis James Brown and Mathew Lewis Williams.
