Obituary for Benedict "Ben" Reuter

Benedict "Ben" M. Reuter, 94 passed away peacefully at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, in Fulton, Illinois on Monday, June 24th, 2013. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church, Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will occur on Thursday, June 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel - 2610 Manufacturing Drive (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery) and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Sugar Creek Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ben was born October 29th, 1918 in Sugar Creek the son of Peter and Katharina (Banowetz) Reuter. He was united in marriage to Rita Roling on Oct. 1st, 1940 in Sugar Creek.
Ben was known in the rural areas as a mechanic and worked for Kunau Implement in Preston and Dague Implement in Maquoketa for many years. He also farmed in the Preston area.
He enjoyed utilizing his mechanical skills and playing his accordion. When he found time he enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He also loved to travel with his wife to various vacation spots.
Ben is survived by his children - Donald (Darlene) Reuter of Maquoketa, IA., Eleanor (Leo) Casey of Fulton, IL., Geraldine Burken of Preston, IA., Darlene (Dale) Ketelsen of Clinton, IA., Lois (Tom) Cloos of Bellevue, IA., Judy (Tim) Martin of Cedar Rapids, IA., Terry (Bonnie) Reuter of Spragueville, IA., Ed (Carol) Reuter of Sabula, IA.; 31 grandchildren; many great grand children; brothers and sisters - Elizabeth Frett of Maquoketa, IA., Vernard Reuter of Clinton, IA., Mary Kilburg of Maquoketa, IA., Julius Reuter of TX., Catherine Kilburg of Preston, IA., Joan Gerardy of Bellevue, IA., Richard Reuter of Calamus, IA., Theresa Hansen of DeWitt, IA.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, three sisters and two brothers.
