Obituary for Barbara Joy Haley (Oltmanns)

Barbara J. Haley, 71, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Monday, September 28, 2020. Funeral service occurs at 11:00 am on Friday, October 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, Clinton. A visitation occurs one-hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the church. Burial takes place at the Glahn family Cemetery, just outside of Goose Lake. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Barbara was born September 21, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Alice (Streets) Oltmanns. She was a 1967 graduate of Clinton High School. Following high school, Barbara graduated from Cosmetology School and started her own busines – “Barbara’s Beauty Boutique”. Later she would work for the Clinton Community School District, driving a bus, and retiring after 20+ years. Over the years she drove hundreds of school children to-and-from school and stayed in contact with many of them.

Barbara was an active long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid group.

Barbara loved socializing with family, friends or really anyone she struck up a chat with - she was a real social butterfly. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also cherished her time with her great niece and nephew. Above all, she loved her entire family very much and will be greatly missed.

Barbra is survived by her sister - Jeanette Glahn of Camanche, IA; three nieces – Jane (Don) Kane of Clinton, Jean Glahn of Camanche and Tanya (Paul) Balch of Greer S.C.; one great nephew – Jordan (Ivy) Kane of Clinton; grand - nephew and niece – Kaleb Hansen and Jaxxsen Kane; with many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother in-law Weslie Glahn.
