Obituary for Arnold Flint

Arnold Flint, 91, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital in Iowa City on September 20th, 2011. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 26th, at 2:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. Visitation will take place 1 hour before the Funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. Burial will take place Tuesday September 27th at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Tomah, Wisconsin. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family.
Arnold was born June 13th, 1920 in Tunnel City, Wisconsin, the son of Floyd and Nora (Snyder) Flint. Arnold married Helen Price on July 23rd, 1941 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.
Arnold was an Army veteran of WWII. While acting as a scout (reconnaissance) ahead of General George Patton's Tank force, he received serious and lifelong injuries when enemy machine gun fire ripped through his forward position. For his courage and dedication to his Country and his fellow soldiers he received many Medals of Honor including the Purple Heart.
Arnold loved to travel, attending casinos, playing games of chance, and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Blinded Veterans Association.
Arnold is survived by his son Thomas (Laura) Flint of Clinton, 2-grandchilden and 1-greatgrand child.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 5-brothers, and 2-sisters.
