Alton 'Uncle Pete' Cannon, 79, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on March 15, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Alton was born January 25, 1936 in Lakeland, Florida the son of William and Gussie (Richardson) Cannon. Alton served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church and was an Operations Engineer in the construction industry for various companies throughout his career.
Alton was a true believer in Christ as his Lord and Savior and loved his Baptist Faith. In his leisure time Alton loved the outdoors, especially fishing.
Alton is survived by one niece who was also his caregiver - Jacqueline Cannon of Clinton. IA, as well as many other nieces, nephews and his special friend Keesha "shorty".
Preceding Alton in death were his parents, one sister and two brothers.
