Obituary for Albert E. Nehring, Jr.

Albert Earl Nehring Jr., 80, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 7, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur 3 hours prior to the Funeral Service from 11 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Albert was born July 22, 1938 in Nauvoo, Illinois the son of Albert Sr. and Lois (Heady) Nehring. He was a graduate of Nauvoo High School. Albert was united in marriage to Marilyn Stowe on July 9, 1966 in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Albert was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union #429 and the Golden Lake Lodge.
He retired from the Union Pacific railroad and he served as custodian at First United Methodist Church for 20+ years.

Albert enjoyed living life to the fullest!
He spent his time reading the Bible and devotions, being involved in church, woodworking, traveling, riding his Harley and for his 2nd 40th birthday he purchased a Corvette.
He loved his grandchildren dearly and loved most when his family gathered together under one roof. He was very proud of his two daughters and all of their accomplishments.

Albert is survived by his very special and dear friend Pat Zirkelbach; daughters – Deena Nehring of Clinton and Lisa (Tim) Bartels of Charlotte; Grandchildren - Ashley (Andrew) Franzen, Michael Judd, James Coleman, Zoey Englert, Taylor and Tad Bartels; Great-Grandchildren - Mary and Elijah Franzen; Sister - Edith Grouwinkel and Brother - Raymond Nehring; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Albert in death were his parents, his wife Marilyn, sister Irene and brother Daniel.
