Obituary for Albert "Al" Goddard

Pastor Emeritus Albert L. Goddard, 92, of DeLand, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Halifax Health Hospice Volusia/Flagler Care Center in Orange City, Florida. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service celebrating Al's life will be announced at a later date with burial at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations in Al's memory be made to Halifax Health Hospice, Volusia/Flagler, 1625 Veterans Memorial Pkwy., Orange City, FL 32763, or to the National Association for Retarded Citizens, at www.thearc.org. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family locally.
Born in Clinton County, Iowa, Al was a proud Navy Veteran of WWII, who later in life felt the calling to become a minister. He completed his education at Bangor Theological Seminary and the University of Maine. Al faithfully served several churches over the years, among them First Congregational Church of Christ in Lake Helen, FL. and Edgewater Union United Church of Christ in Edgewater FL., prior to his final retirement.
Al is survived by his wife of 72 years - Betty of DeLand, FL.; one daughter - Stana Young of DeBary FL., one grandson Tod (Dawn) Allen Smith; one great granddaughter - Aerial all of Altoona, PA.; one brother, Robert of Clinton, IA.; one sister - Helen of MA., with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Al in death were his parents, his son - Thomas, one sister and several brothers.
