Adeline Marie Petersen-Speaker, 93, of Clinton passed away Friday August 19th at Mercy Medical Center South Campus. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Home South Chapel. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the Funeral service from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Lemke Funeral Homes-South Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family.

Adeline was born July 7, 1918 in Miles, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Marie (Bruse) Rix. She married Marvin F. Petersen in Clinton on August 25th 1938 – Marvin passed away in 1961. She later married C. Erle Allais in Clinton on April 25th, 1969 – he passed in November 1979. She married Wilbur Speaker in Sterling, Illinois on February 8th, 1982 – he passed January 1985.

Adeline was a farm wife for over 20 years; she then worked for Nelson’s Clearing house (Clinton) for 10 years. She later retired after 10 years as a book keeper for her husband Erle.
Adeline loved observing nature, especially bird watching. She also loved gardening, listening to Elvis Presley’s music and traveling to Hawaii.

Adeline is survived by 1 daughter in-law - Bernadette Petersen of Clinton, 1 grand-daughter Lori Gustafson of Clinton, 4 grandsons Mark (Beth) Petersen of Davenport, Scott (Alexa) Petersen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cory Petersen of Iowa City, Kyle (Kayla) Gustafson of Millersburg, Ohio, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Darryl, 3 husbands, her brother and sister-in-law Leroy and Gen Rix, and her special friend Russell Mensinger.
